We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a contract with ABP Southampton to supply and install 6 water quality sensors which will be deployed on navigational buoys around the port, collecting data to strengthen the understanding of water quality in the region. Among the parameters measured is turbidity, a key indicator of the amount of suspended sediment and particles in the water column. Turbidity levels can fluctuate due to vessel movements, dredging activity, tidal flows, and weather events, making it an increasingly important parameter for busy ports, particularly as environmental impact considerations grow.
At the heart of the project is Port-Log, our data platform that manages, visualises, and shares environmental data from the many sensors placed in and around the port. Our in-built alerts will inform marine operators when thresholds are nearing their limits or have been breached. Access to reliable, real-time turbidity data provides significant operational and environmental benefits for a port such as ABP Southampton.
We have been working with Associated British Ports (ABP) since 2014, supplying a range of products and services to its network of ports across the UK, from smaller seaports like Barrow to the large deep-water port at Southampton. Read all about our journey with them here.

“We are extremely proud to be working with ABP on this exciting new project and look forward to continuing to develop both our system and our relationship with this forward-thinking and hugely important customer.”
