Sharing your Environmental Data Quickly and Easily

Connectivity is particularly important for real-time environmental data, as this data is often essential for operational decision making. When timing and safety is critical – you need your environmental data easily accessible, up to date and in the right format.

Port-Log is a cloud-based data platform (or installed in-house if required) which gives you the ability to store environmental monitoring data securely and publish it in near real-time or historically on the web. As connectivity becomes more and more important and the volume and complexity of data increases, we have listened to our customers and developed a variety of ways that you can securely and reliably share your data with those that need it, when they need it.

Port-Log API

Our Application Programming Interface (API) metaphorically but securely ‘opens the door’ to the data allowing another program to interact with it. API's help avoid ‘data silos’ (a repository of fixed data that is isolated from other applications or departments) and by allowing other systems to connect with Port-Log, it leads to many benefits including improved clarity and flexibility as well as savings in time, resources and money. Our Port-Log API provides data in response to HTTP requests and can be accessed with virtually any programming language, thus making it easily integrated into existing systems.

Port-Log Connect – Stream

Connect Stream enables external devices or systems to access data on Port-Log using industry standard protocols. Ideal for streaming data outside of Port Log, so that it can be used in external systems and applications, and by third-party software. Connect Stream is allowing a variety of our customers immediate and remote access to real-time and historic data for use in portable pilot units (PPUs), maritime safety, dredging, survey and surveillance systems.

Port-Log Connect – Relay

Connect Relay extracts data from Port-Log and sends it to an external location at regular timed intervals, allowing data to be sent to permitted third-parties outside of your organisation who wish to use, digest or embed your data. Connect Relay is currently being used by a number of our customers to send data to third-parties and external recipients such as weather forecast providers and dynamic under keel clearance.

Port-Log Extensions

Advanced Waves Extension – view, share or export wave data

Processes and displays spectral wave data, including directional data, as well as basic wave parameters. Ideal for viewing, storing, displaying, analysing and disseminating wave data, including spectral and directional data. Download

Forecasting Extension – add tidal, wave and weather forecasts

Allows you to bring together your real time environmental data, tidal predictions and marine wave and weather forecasts in one place. Ideal for viewing, storing, displaying and disseminating tidal predictions, wave and weather forecast data alongside your other environmental data. Download

Acoustic Current Profiler

Displays profiled datasets, including current speed and direction from Acoustic Doppler Profilers. Ideal for viewing, storing, displaying and disseminating all types of profile data including ADP data. For more information or to add any of the data sharing options or extensions to your subscription, please contact us. We will work with you to find the best solution for your needs.

Russell Bird-Peel Ports

OceanWise listened and provided a unique approach to our tidal display needs. Port-Log was easy to install but overall it was OceanWise's flexibility and knowledge that most impressed - they gave us a fully supported system very quickly.

Steve Strickland-Port of London Authority

PLA's Tidal Monitoring System took considerable expertise to design, install and test. Thanks to OceanWise, the UK's 2nd largest port continued to operate as normal.

William Heaps-Associated British Ports

Provision of accurate tide and weather data underpins our services not only to commercial traffic but also to UK leisure sailors as well. The OceanWise Port-Log system ensures we are able to continue to do that long into the future.

Ed Walker-Cowes Harbour Commission

With OceanWise’s help we sorted everything out and have ended up in a good place with reliability issues sorted as a bonus

Billy Johnston-Langstone Harbour

Understanding local tidal and wind conditions is a critical part of navigating safely in our shallow natural harbour. Being able to share data with our users is a major step forward for us. I am genuinely pleased to be working with OceanWise and their Port-Log system which is assisting all harbour users and making our beautful harbour a safer place to sail.

Marine Pilot-ABP Southampton

The Pilots page from OceanWise has been invaluable to us. It provides data on the critical environmental conditions that determine the safe embarkation and disembarkation of pilots in the boarding grounds. With this data we can make a determination from VTS and the launch station on whether to suspend or continue operations in parts of the district without putting Pilots or launch crew at undue risk
